Telehealth Information

Telehealth is available to any patient physically located in Colorado at the time of the appointment, regardless of residency

  • You must be physically located in Colorado at the time of your telehealth appointment, regardless of residency.
State laws require that psychiatric care is provided only in the state where the provider is licensed.

Telehealth is available for most evaluations and follow-ups unless an in-person visit is clinically needed.

  • To participate in a telehealth session, you will need:

    • A private, quiet space

    • A stable internet connection

    • A smartphone, tablet, or computer with working audio and video

    • Access to the Tebra patient portal or secure video link

    • Notifications enabled for appointment reminders

Please test your device before your visit and join the session a few minutes early

  • Telehealth at Deep Waters Psychiatry & Wellness complies with all HIPAA privacy requirements.

To protect your confidentiality, please ensure:

    • You are in a private location

    • No one can overhear your session unless you choose to include them

    • Your device is secure and password-protected

    • Headphones are used if you are not alone

The platform used for sessions is encrypted and HIPAA-compliant.

  • Telehealth is not appropriate for:

    • Active safety concerns or emergencies

    • Suicidal or homicidal intent

    • Severe psychiatric symptoms requiring in-person evaluation

    • Intoxication, withdrawal, or impaired cognitive functioning

    • Situations where you cannot participate reliably (driving, distracted, in public)

    • Circumstances requiring physical examination

In these situations, an in-person visit, crisis evaluation, or emergency care is required

  • Telehealth can be used for:

    • Psychiatric evaluations (when appropriate)

    • Medication management

    • Symptom review and follow-up care

    • Reviewing labs or treatment plans

    • Supportive therapy elements, CBT strategies, and DBT skills

If your situation requires in-person evaluation, you will be advised accordingly.

  • To ensure a focused, effective, and therapeutic session, please:

    • Join the session on time

    • Do not attend telehealth visits while driving

    • Avoid public or non-private spaces

    • Keep your camera on throughout the appointment

    • Minimize distractions as much as reasonably possible

I understand that remaining seated or maintaining complete stillness may not be feasible for everyone, including children or individuals with ADHD, autism, anxiety, or other conditions.
Please do your best to stay within view of the camera and remain engaged in the session.

If the environment is not clinically appropriate or becomes too distracting to continue safely, the appointment may need to be rescheduled
