Frequently Asked Questions

  • I am currently a cash-pay practice, meaning payment is due at the time of service.
However, I am actively working through the credentialing process and will be accepting insurance in the near future.

I am in the process of credentialing with:

    • Aetna

    • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield

    • Cigna

    • UnitedHealthcare / Optum

    • UMR (including many UCHealth employee plans)

    • Colorado Medicaid (Health First Colorado)

Once credentialing is complete, I will begin accepting these plans.

Until insurance enrollment becomes active, I am happy to provide a superbill for patients who would like to pursue out-of-network reimbursement through their insurance plan, depending on their individual benefits.

  • I treat individuals age 6 and older with a wide range of mental health concerns, including:

    • Depression

    • Anxiety disorders

    • ADHD

    • PTSD / trauma-related symptoms

    • Bipolar spectrum disorders

    • Sleep difficulties

    • Substance-related concerns (see below)

    Substance Use Treatment

I use medication when appropriate to support abstinence and recovery, and I recommend evidence-based adjunctive approaches. I do NOT prescribe methadone or buprenorphine.

    Benzodiazepines

I do prescribe benzodiazepines when needed, but not for long-term use, due to safety considerations and because long-term use does not supprt sustained functional outcome.

  • My primary approach is functional and integrative psychiatry, which focuses on understanding the underlying drivers of emotional and physical symptoms.

    I consider:

    • Biological and nutritional imbalances

    • Inflammation and gut-brain interactions

    • Sleep quality and circadian rhythm

    • Stress physiology

    • Trauma history and lived experiences

    • Genetic and metabolic variability

Medications are used conservatively, with the goal of supporting your healing without relying on them as the only treatment tool.

  • Yes. Non-urgent questions can be sent through the secure patient portal, and I personally respond within 1–2 business days.

Please note: if messages become frequent, complex, or require significant clinical time, I may ask you to schedule a follow-up appointment so your concerns can be addressed thoroughly and safely.

The portal is not monitored for emergencies.
For urgent needs, call 911, 988, or go to the nearest emergency room.

  • Yes. Laboratory testing is an important part of my functional approach and helps identify factors contributing to mood, anxiety, and overall mental health.

Some testing is covered by insurance, while certain specialized or functional tests are not. When testing is not covered, costs vary depending on the type of test and laboratory used.

We will always discuss the purpose, expected benefit, estimated cost range, and available alternatives before ordering any testing.

  • Yes. I often recommend supplements when clinically appropriate, especially when laboratory testing reveals deficiencies, inflammatory patterns, or biological imbalances that may be contributing to symptoms. My approach focuses on optimizing underlying physiology rather than relying on medication alone.

I do not sell or dispense supplements myself, and I do not profit from supplement purchases.
I use Fullscript solely to provide patients with convenient access to high-quality, evidence-based products at a discounted price.

  • Yes. I offer:

    • In-person appointments at my Loveland office

    • Telepsychiatry appointments for anyone located in Colorado

All telehealth visits are HIPAA-compliant and secure.

  • I do not provide long-term psychotherapy. During medication management visits, I may incorporate brief supportive therapy and behavioral and cognitive coping strategies.

These approaches are used adjunctively and not a substitiute for ongoing psychotherapy.

  • No, I do not prescribe hormone replacement therapy.
When appropriate, I may recommend evidence-based supplements that support natural hormonal balance, but hormone therapy is not a primary treatment offered in my practice.

  • Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
A fee may be applied for late cancellations or missed appointments.

I understand that unexpected situations and emergencies can occur, and fees may be waived at the provider’s discretion in those circumstances.

  • You can request an appointment on the Get Started page or through your patient portal.
I will contact you personally with next steps once your request is submitted
